Annuity
1 min readDear 2008,
You know, we had a good run, friend.
I suppose like any other relationship, the ups were matched by downs. In our case, very trying downs. Very recent downs. I would like to say, however, that I think it was all worth it.
…the ups completely exceeded my expectations.
It makes me sad to think that in less that eight hours, you’re going to be gone from my life, completely. And there is nothing I can do about it. No matter what we do, the single-minded trudging of time will continue. And you will pass into memory.
I won’t soon forget you. Every time I write out a check or sign my name, (at least for the first six months) I’ll remember you. When my birthday comes, I’ll sit there and think, “Fuck I wish 2008 were here.”
Thank you, 2008. Thank you not only for the awesome time we’ve shared together, but also for the hope you’ve given me for 2009. I understand that 2009 may be equally as trying… if not moreso. Because of you, however, I know I’ll be ready.
Take care of yourself, wherever it is that you go.
